Friends Camp offers overnight camp programs for children and teens ages 7-17 in South China, Maine. We celebrate community, play, and exploring the outdoors.
Friends Camp strives to be a special place where youth have time for play and for reflection, with creative arts, non-competitive games, waterfront activities, drama, discussion, and many other interesting and creative activities. We are a diverse and caring community that nurtures the unique personality each camper brings to camp.
Each session is full of many options, such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, crafts, games, and an overnight expedition to Jones Island on China Lake. Some of our campers come from Quaker families, but most hail from other backgrounds. We welcome youth of all faiths as well as those who identify with no particular faith at all. With our our four-to-one camper-to-staff ratio, Friends Camp is a wonderful place for friendships to sprout and grow.
The regular youth camp sessions usually accommodate campers, with about 28 counselors and 10-15 additional staff members. For the summer of 2021, our capacity is currently projected to cap at 70 campers per session due to COVID-19 precautions. We will maintain a wait list and open more spaces for camp if it safe. While Friends Camp has historically offered 4, 2-week sessions (with a 1-week option for young children), we are offering slightly longer sessions in 2021 due to pandemic restrictions.
