MOTT FAMILY CAMP COORDINATORS AND COUNSELORS
[This space will be updated in early 2010]
THE PROGRAM
This summer family camp adult program leader will be Kathleen Kelly (MSW/MA Theo). She has facilitated faith sharing groups exploring individual and communal faith journeys and responding to community crises. As a spiritual director, she explores the connections between spiritual practice, intention, and action. Clerk of the First Day School at Cambridge Friends Meeting, she also is on the board of Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries (interfaith social action group) and the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute (responds to community violence). She is married to Brian Corr and has a son, Liam (age 11).
During this summer's adult programming, Kathleen will use Quaker testimonies and the concept of “transcendent play” to explore parenting as spiritual mentoring. How might these testimonies and play influence our parenting and our family's everyday spirituality? Each day, we will begin with meditation followed by a query and worship sharing. We will use readings to assist in our reflection. If you have a related reading that you would like to share, please bring it to family camp.
THE FOOD
Friends Camp has an excellent reputation for healthy, home-style meals. We offer a full salad bar with lunch and dinner, and a buffet of wonderful vegetarian and non-vegetarian offerings at each meal. Friends Camp is licensed by the State of Maine, and we follow all the current health and safety requirements. You and your family will be asked to sign up to help with table setting and clean up.

MOTT FAMILY CAMP TRAVEL DAY
Mott family campers spend a day away from camp on Wednesday (Thursday is the rain day) to explore the Maine coast. After breakfast, you can pack a box lunch for your daylong adventure. There is much to see and do in Maine. Three popular destinations are:
Acadia National Park / Mt. Desert Island – Visit thousands of acres of mountains, woodlands, lakes, ponds, and ocean shoreline. Boothbay Harbor – You can enjoy the fun of whale watching, sea kayaking, and sailing. Camden – A favorite day trip for many our family campers. Camden is a wonderful small port town, full of shops and galleries, cafes and restaurants, and a breathtaking view of the harbor from the top of Mount Battie.
